Cervino Nordic Rush
One against one, on the central street of town. Direct elimination after 150 meters of frantic sliding on tight cross-country skis.
It is Cervino Nordic Rush, a race in between competition and festivity. But the real show will be conducted by the champions, guaranteed. Starting with Federico Pellegrino, the number one sprinter from the Italian national team, four times World Cup champion this year and outgoing winner, whom will compete against the fastest cross-country skier, Norwegian Ludvig Sogen Jensen.
But they won’t be the only ones present on the 26th of March at Breuil.
The event planners of the Club de Ski Valtournenche intend to engage even French, Swiss, and German sprinters. There will also be resistance running champions such as Francesco de Fabiani, leader of the World Cup Under 23. Along with the race for adults, there will be one for children and toddlers.
After the competition the festivities begin, because for cross-country skiers Easter indicates the end of the season. The awards ceremony will be held downtown and then the dinner gala will begin shortly afterwards.
“I care very much about this day – says Federico Pellegrino – it is a very important day for promoting cross-country skiing. And Cervinia is a perfect location for it to be held in: the town’s central street seems like an ideal stage for a direct elimination challenge“.
The Cervino Nordic Rush will start mid morning on Saturday 26th of March with qualification for youth categories. The adult categories will start at 16.00; and finals will be at 18.00.
